To culminate the year-long celebration, the City will host a dinner banquet open to the community at Terranea Resort.

RPV's Run for Myles 5k/10k
Join us for the first-ever RPV's Run for Myles 5k/10k run and walk. This event is hosted by the nonprofit Run for Myles and coincides with the City's 50th anniversary celebration. Lace up your running shoes and be part of this exhilarating event benefiting the preservation and enhancement of parks and trails in Rancho Palos Verdes. Registration fee: $40-$55. Sister City Third Anniversary Celebration
Join us at the Ken Dyda Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for cross-cultural festivities celebrating the three-year anniversary of the formation of the sister city partnership between Rancho Palos Verdes and Sakura City, Japan. Enjoy live performances, family-friendly activities, and a food truck as Rancho Palos Verdes officials are joined by dignitaries from Sakura City who will be visiting to help RPV celebrate the City's 50th anniversary. Fourth of July Celebration
The annual Fourth of July event has been a City-hosted event since 1975, almost as long as the City has been incorporated. Enjoy food trucks, music, and children’s activities galore, with a special surprise in store!

The Fourth City Tree Grove was planted in 1977 at the then-Rancho Palos Verdes Park (now known as Ryan Park) honoring Gordon Curtis, Dorothy LeConte, and Fred Hesse Jr. for their contributions to the City’s incorporation. Bring lunch and join us for a picnic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with live music and inflatables for kids. 50th anniversary branded blankets will be available for the first 50 households.

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes and Los Serenos de Point Vicente will proudly present the 38th annual Whale of a Day Celebration. This exciting event is fun for everyone. Whale of a Day celebrates the migration of the Pacific gray whale from the frigid waters of the Arctic seas to the warm lagoons of Baja California.

The 50th Anniversary Celebration hike and reception event at Del Cerro Park on March 18 has been postponed, as the Preserve may remain closed following rainfall for public safety and to prevent further trail erosion damage. A rescheduled date is to be announced. Please check back for updates.

History of RPV Art Contest
RPV residents and K-12 students on the Peninsula are invited to submit artwork to commemorate the City's 50th Anniversary Celebration! First prize winners will have their artwork displayed on the cover of the City's seasonal Recreation and Activity Guide. Second and third place winners will receive a 50th Anniversary tote bag with souvenirs inside.
